On top of the rightful concerns about it being trained on the stolen work of human artists, we know from research that this technology has severe environmental and political consequences. Cooling the data centers for just one prompt demands an immense amount of energy and fresh water that cannot be recuperated. These data centers are also racialized, in that they are powered by exploited labor from our siblings abroad and cause resource strain that disproportionately displaces people of color here in the United States.&nbsp; Thus, as a creative collective of Asian Americans whose founding principle is giving a voice to the voiceless, we have zero tolerance for any use of generative AI at any point in the creative process. This includes - but is not limited to - writing submissions for quarterly colds and graphics for promotional material. If a member is suspected of or found having used generative AI, they will be contacted by the Producers and HR to discuss the offense. Any subsequent incident will be grounds for removal from the company. We do not issue this statement to alienate or penalize anyone, but instead to encourage the authentic development of creative skills and voice for which LCC stands in the first place. Our Leadership team is always available to any members who need creative support. Additionally, we resolve to be more intentional with crediting artists in the future. Inspirations for scripts will be appropriately named in future show programs and advertising, as will the copyrighted music we use throughout our shows. This is your chance to get in the spotlight and perform! LCC puts on a show every quarter, and you'll get to be the one to bring the stories to life! This is your chance to be a princess, a bum, a horny teenager, and/or a wizard. ︎WRITERS Everything starts with writing. Without writers, actors and directors will have nothing to work with. In LCC, we only produce original scripts we write ourselves. Have a story to tell? Here's your chance to get it produced and seen by hundreds of people! ︎IMPROV-ERS Hm, not sure if that's a real word, but if you've ever looked at "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" and thought "that's so cool!", here's your chance to do it on stage. Improv comedy is fun, so if you can be spontaneous and think on your feet, this is perfect for you! ︎FILMMAKERS Though LCC focuses mostly on stage productions, we've also produced and shown many videos during our shows. Let's face it: some stories are better told on stage while others are better in film. We are looking for people that like to tell stories through film as well. ︎DESIGNERS We always need people that have a good eye (or better yet, a lot of good eyes) for usage of stage space, lighting, props, and costumes. Decorating your room with curtains is nice. Making the stage look good? That's even better because lots of people are going to see it! ︎RANDOM PEOPLE WITH TALENTS Do you sing? That's handy when we put on musicals. Do you dance? We've done many scenes with choreography. Do you puppeteer? We've created puppet shows as well. Do you juggle? We just might write a role about jugglers someday. Can you imitate the cry of a dying giraffe? We've also needed people to play monsters and animals in different scenes. Who knows? Many random talents have made it into shows in the past. ︎FUN PEOPLE When the cast has fun, the audience can feel it and have fun too. We've found that many people that made it into the group are usually the people that had fun during their auditions. If you simply want to help out and have fun doing stage stuff, this might just be the thing you are looking for! From its simple origin as a small writing group, LCC has grown to become the largest Asian American college theater group in the country, boasting a cast of over thirty and performing for thousands of audience members every year. Based at UCLA, LCC strives to uphold its resolution to promote and mature culturally diverse talents through the arts. &nbsp; &nbsp; Aside from performing every quarter for packed houses around campus, LCC has also made appearances at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, the University of California at Irvine, and has been an award-winning entrant in various theater competitions. On occasion, our audiences have included such notables such as Tamlyn Tomita (The Joy Luck Club, The Karate Kid Part II), Tzi Ma (Rush Hour, Martial Law), Freda Shen (Mulan), Jason Tobin (Yellow), and other members of the entertainment industry. &nbsp; &nbsp; LCC consists primarily of students and young professionals from various backgrounds, majors, and ethnicities who have come together through a common love for performing. Unlike other companies that perform established works, LCC's repertoire consists entirely of original scripts, with each show standing as an exhibition of new writers and material. Initially producing plays and short scenes, LCC has since expanded its scope to include film and video, dance, improvisational comedy, spoken word, and visual art. Recently, members of LCC have resurrected the company's original focus as a writing group by establishing Writer's Block. On top of providing a forum for writers to develop their work, Writer's Block also produces the quarterly 'zine, Asian Fetish, to provide a space for artists and writers of prose and poetry. &nbsp; &nbsp; The variety of our program makes LCC a popular and versatile group both on and off campus.
